Who is this for?
Homeowners with outdated fuse boxes, landlords preparing properties for letting, and anyone whose current consumer unit does not meet 18th Edition standards.
Signs you need this
- Your fuse board still uses rewirable fuses or old-style cartridge fuses
- There is no RCD protection on your circuits
- Your consumer unit has a wooden back board or looks visibly dated
- An EICR has flagged your consumer unit as non-compliant
- You are adding new circuits and the existing board cannot accommodate them
What is included
- Removal of the old consumer unit
- Supply and installation of a metal-clad consumer unit with RCD or RCBO protection
- Full testing and labelling of all circuits
- Electrical Installation Certificate issued on completion
- Notification to Building Control via a registered competent person scheme
How it works
- 1We visit to assess your current setup and discuss your requirements.
- 2You receive a clear quote with no hidden costs.
- 3On the day, we isolate the supply, remove the old board, and install the new unit. This usually takes a full day.

Certification on Completion
Consumer unit upgrades are notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations. As NICEIC-registered electricians, we self-certify and notify Building Control on your behalf.
What Our Customers Say
Power went out at 11pm on a Sunday. Called Capital Electrician and someone was at my door within 45 minutes. Turned out to be a faulty connection in the consumer unit. Fixed on the spot. Could not ask for more.

Ealing
Needed an EICR for my rental flat before the new tenants moved in. Booked for the following week, electrician arrived on time, and I had the certificate emailed to me the same day. Simple and professional.
James T.

Had our 1930s house fully rewired. It was a big job and they were upfront about the disruption, but the team worked tidily and finished a day ahead of schedule. The new consumer unit is a big improvement on the old fuse box.
