Richmond upon Thames has 85 conservation areas, so a lot of its homes are both old and protected. Richmond Green has Georgian townhouses and mid-Victorian villas, St Margarets was laid out as a Victorian estate from 1854, Castelnau in Barnes has villas from 1842 onwards, and Kew and Teddington have long streets of Victorian and Edwardian houses.
