Electrician in Acton

Acton has two quite different housing stories. In the south, the South Acton estate was cleared from 1949 and rebuilt almost entirely as tower blocks, and it is now being replaced again as Acton Gardens, where L&Q and Countryside are building nearly 3,500 homes. North Acton is going upwards as well, with towers of more than 50 storeys at 1 Portal Way backed by planners in 2023. In the 2021 census, well over half of South Acton ward's households lived in purpose-built flats.

The other story is Victorian and Edwardian. Mill Hill Park was laid out from 1877, its Italianate terraces later joined by Arts and Crafts villas, and Acton Green has Victorian terraces and mansion flats from the turn of the century. In Southfield ward, towards Bedford Park, more than one in five households lives in a converted or shared house. These older homes are where rewires, consumer unit upgrades and new circuits for lofts and kitchen extensions come in.

Acton also has a real place in electrical history. The Evershed and Vignoles factory, built in 1933 at the bottom of Acton Lane, employed 4,000 people making electrical test equipment. These days the High Street, Market Place and Churchfield Road are lined with shops, cafes and takeaways that need PAT testing and periodic inspections, and we cover the whole of W3, including East Acton and North Acton, for EICRs, fault finding and emergency callouts.
